Bree Sharp, "A Cheap and Evil Girl" (Trauma). She wants to be bad, the new Joan Jett, but has too much vocal skill and tune sense to really pull off that tart, tough-chick pose. Slicked up with punchy, radio-friendly arrangements, this set oozes "commercial packaging" and proves pretty entertaining. Nothing else quite matches her over-the top homage to "David Duchovny," which plays off the "X-Files" motifs with tongue firmly in cheek: "Sitting like a mindless clone, wishing he would tap my phone. . .So smooth and so smart, he's abducted my heart." The alternating tempos of "Faster Faster" do give a good adrenaline rush, "Guttermouth" is funny in spurts, "Walking Away" and "Smitten" are instantly hummable, and the title track puts a spell on you.
