It’s no surprise Bree Sharp was a theater major in college; her affinity for role-playing is evident on her debut, A Cheap and Evil Girl.

The singer/songwriter plays the sweetly deranged fan on the album's first single "David Duchovny," her catchy, smooch-filled musical postcard to the X-Files star. She plays the motorcycle-straddlin' Russ Meyer vixen on "Faster, Faster." The rest of the time, she's busy being Alanis without the frankness. Even when she tries to talk trash ("Guttermouth"), she sounds a bit silly, like the kid at school who's trying to impress with "bad words" that aren’t really bad at all.

Still, Bree Sharp's songs have an earnestness that makes it all forgivable. Both "Show Me" and "Walk Away" are appealing enough to warrant feature spots on any of the teen-oriented WB shows - and we all know how important that can be.
